“Kunstler” group’s mural in among the best solutions for a mural dedicated to the connection between Montenegro and the EU.

The “Kunstler” Group Mural, made up of FVU professor Prof. Danijela Darmanovic Mahmutovic and FVU students Angela Mrsulj and Marija Raketic, is one of the three best selected solutions in the Murals Competition on "I for Europe, Europe for Me" published by General Government Secretariat - Public Information Division on the EU and the EU accession process.

The competition was implemented in accordance with the Strategy of public information on Montenegro's accession to the EU 2019-2022, within the framework of the EU4ME project, funded by the EU, and implemented by UNDP. Podgorica, Bar and Bijelo Polje will soon begin painting murals dedicated to Montenegro's ties with the European Union.

In addition to the Kunstler group, the best conceptual solutions, according to the expert jury, were submitted by Mia Pejović (for the Podgorica mural) and Pavle Cvijović (for the Bijelo Polje mural).

The three murals, to be painted by artists in Podgorica, Bar and Bijelo Polje in the coming period, are a response to the mural "Just See You with Your Heart" by artist from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ricardo Druskic, presented in Brussels in April and dedicated to Western Balkans ties and the EU.

The Brussels mural served as the inspiration for the idea that Montenegro would be the first Western Balkan country to respond by painting murals in its three cities. The Murals will present a part of Montenegro's social, historical and cultural wealth and send a message to the citizens of the European Union that Montenegro has always been part of Europe historically, culturally and geographically.

A total of twenty-seven entries arrived, ten of which were submitted for the development of murals in Podgorica, nine for Bar and eight for Bijelo Polje.

The best ideas were selected by a committee consisting of: Assistant Secretary General of the Government, Nada Vojvodic, Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maja Sofranac, Historian of Arts and Advisor for Social Affairs in the Mayor's Office, Nela Gligorovic, Academic Painter and President of the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly, Abaz Dizdarevic , Bar City Chief Architect Igor D. Milosevic and UNDP Program Manager, Jelena Mrdak.
