Artists of Bjelo Polje tamed the winter: Ice Dragon finished! After eight days the sculpture made out of snow and ice on the town square in Bijelo Polje was completed last night.

This fantastic idea of artists from Bijelo Polje was put into practice and the dragon made out of snow and ice became the attraction of the city and a popular gathering place for the youngest population.
Low temperatures were beneficial for makers of the ice beast while the material for making it literally fell from the sky.
The creators of the dragon which enchanted the entire Montenegro and the region are:  the sculptor Milan Jovovic, painters Luka Joksimović, D. Konatar and Eldin Suljević designer Milovan Rakonjac as well as students of the Faculty of Visual Arts: Vladimir Tvrdisic, Okica Zaimovic, Stefan Velickovic, Mico Kovacevic, Zeljko Madzgalj, Jelena Jusković, Selma Sijaric, Salinda Suljevic, Nemanja Maric, Stefan Vukicevic, Marko Pavlovic and artist Hoki Hadzimuhovic. The initiator of the project itself is a painter Abaz Dizdarevic.
The utility company LIM helped artists to group the snow while they on they own provided the missing parts. Beside snow, they were also bringing in buckets water from a fountain from a nearby park, which they mixed in wheelchairs with the snow, and then used it as a bonding material.
"It was tricky to set up mass that would lead to the desired form," the sculptor Milan Jovovic said to the Kodex.
As he said, they used to work 6-7 hours per day, mainly in the afternoon. However, when the temperature went down to - 15 degrees, the operation was not possible because the gloves were sticking to the snow.
Artists said that they were not feeling cold. Beside work, they were warmed by well-meaning passers-by who were offering them tea, mulled wine, fruit and so on.
For people of Bijelo Polje the dragon became an important fellow citizen so they are afraid that the announced precipitations could “harm" it.
Jovovich assures us that though temperatures are below zero, the Dragon will continue to adorn the square of Bijelo Polje for longer than a month and the rain and snow will only strengthen and whiten it.
Now, we can only congratulate them on the excellent results and thank for this wonderful gift. We invite you to visit the dragon and take a selfy if you already haven’t.
The work process itself was perpetuated by the photographs Marija Raosavljević ,Sandra Joksimović i Željko Đukić.
